As a qualified CBT therapist, I practice Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT). This model of cognitive therapy is a humanistic, structured, philosophical model working within a framework that comprises of a minimum of 12 weekly sessions.
REBT is therapist led and focusses on the most problematic area impacting a client’s life. The ethos of REBT is that people are not disturbed by events themselves directly, but the way they interpret those events. Most disturbances stem from faulty thinking and the remedy is through corrective actions.
CBT is the NHS’s preferred medical model of cognitive therapy and it is considered to be particularly effective in the treatment of depression, addiction, phobias and performance anxiety.
“There are three MUSTS that hold us back:
I MUST do well
You MUST treat me well
The world MUST be easy”
